Join UW-Extension for two days packed with practical information and resources on farm human resource management. Learn of the latest research behind HR management while gaining tips and techniques for facilitation and education to better serve clientele. Become certified with the UW-Extension Becoming the Employer of Choice (BTEC) program.

Conference overview:
Day 1 Thursday, May 2nd 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
The conference begins with the keynote address on the topic of labor markets and industry-wide trends affecting agriculture, and introduction to the UW-Extension Becoming the Employer of Choice program. The afternoon will feature the program modules and research behind best management practices in managing and leading employees for agriculture. Participants will gain facilitation skills in use of the modules presentations, discussion points and activities for use with their clientele. Topics featured include: Managers to Leaders, Hiring the Right People, Farm Business Culture, Developing a Motivated Workforce, and Strategic Leadership & Onboarding.
Day 2 Friday, May 3rd 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Participants will gain facilitation skills by implementing the Becoming the Employer of Choice curriculum modules with a small-group facilitation practicum. During the practicum, participants will receive constructive feedback from the program facilitators. Topics featured include: Managing Conflict and Reviews & Feedback.
Following the conference, participants will have access to all Becoming the Employer of Choice curriculum materials and resources including consultation with facilitators from the University of Wisconsin-Extension. Participants are welcome to become part of the UW-Extension Farm HRM Community of Practice, which offers support to those certified with the BTEC curriculum in their work with clientele. The Community of Practice offers continued support through discussion of human resource management and common farm/clientele questions and issues, via bi-monthly webinar programs with subject experts.
