FFA members brought their “A” game to the Wisconsin Farm Bureau’s FFA Farm Forum on Feb. 17, 2017 in Wisconsin Rapids. I put together a workshop entitled, “WARNING! Don’t do it your ‘selfie,’” to educate students about the effect of their actions on social media.
With more than 100 mastermind millennials as a captive audience, I figured I would pick their brains for ideas on how best to be heard on social media. They came up with 16 straight-to-the-point tips:
1. Explain things better
2. Share positive information
3. Be humorous
4. Keep it simple
5. Use hashtags
6. Share real-life experiences
7. Show your passion
8. Use a variety of platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
9. Find shared values with the customers
10. Take selfies on the farm
11. Create catchy videos
12. Do live videos
13. Tag people and places
14. Be transparent
15. Figure out a target audience
16. Share memories
Now, go step up your social media game and engage the non-farming public! Take baby steps by creating a social media calendar to implement these ideas. I am confident you will see results. Contact me for extra support at jwavrunek@widba.com.
