Filling the void: DBA extends expertise

As dairy professionals, we enjoy the freedom of being independent business owners. However, we are anything but independent. We have multiple sources of what I call “static.”

We have federal and state government agencies in our ears telling us what we can and cannot do. Their roles are to create rules for the good of our family farms and dairy community.

Unfortunately, some of the individuals involved in these roles have minimal involvement or experience in the dairy community.

As independent owners of our dairy farms, unfortunately we have little or no input on how policies are developed and implemented. This is where DBA steps in and fills that void.

It is said there is power in numbers. DBA’s talented staff has the best interest of the dairy community. The staff is directed by 10 dairy farmers and dairy business owners who were elected by a dairy-related membership to ensure positive decisions are being made. We have a voice at the state level because of DBA.

We all hire experts, like a nutritionist, nutrient management planner, agronomist, veterinarian, banker, etc., who support us in making sound management decisions. DBA should be included on that list of experts.

Government agencies are here to help you, but they are not you. DBA has your best interest in mind. Communicate with the staff to make sure your voices are being heard.

DBA appreciates your membership and participation within the association and dairy community.

We are only a phone call away if you need help. Contact us for support at 920-883-0020 or info@widba.com.
