Spread the word: DBA membership matters

Many times we join organizations just to join them, we pay our dues and then what? Do we hope someone is speaking on our behalf? Do they know what we need?

The Dairy Business Association strives to provide value in membership. As the Member Relations Committee chairwoman, I want our members’ voices to be recognized and valued.

DBA has a combined membership of farmers (like me) and corporate representatives. Having this unique format gives us opportunities to gain perspective from the corporate dairy community as well as a ground-level view from the farming community.

Throughout the year, DBA organizes networking events. These opportunities give us a chance to get away from the farm and learn something new. We collaborate with other farmers about daily challenges and opportunities. These events leave you feeling recharged, more prepared for the future and a part of something that is influential to the dairy community.

DBA has implemented quick and easy tools to get our voices heard. Over the last year, membership surveys have been used to gather information about our farms, what issues are most important to us, employee challenges and other topics. With this data, the organization can better identify and shape opportunities to make us stronger as business owners, managers, employees, etc.

Other opportunities on the horizon are a three-year DBA membership renewal and collegiate membership. The multi-year membership brings value through reduced cost to you. Our creation of a collegiate membership recognizes that our youth are our future. Collegiate members will find value in attending networking events and engaging with dairy professionals.

Don’t forget about the DBA staff! This talented, hardworking and dedicated group of individuals works to ensure that the dairy community has a voice. Their daily focus and fight for our community is top-notch. Their commitment makes me proud to be a member.
