Lafayette Ag Stewardship Alliance

to host field day at four farm sites

Sept. 30 event will focus on cover crops, manure application

DARLINGTON, Wis.  Lafayette Ag Stewardship Alliance will host a field day event on Sept. 30 to demonstrate best conservation practices with cover crops and manure application at four farm sites.

The farmer-led watershed conservation group is inviting agricultural professionals and residents to learn more about how cover crops interact with manure application practices. The farms are in the Darlington and Cuba City areas:

  • Mike Berget (Berget Family Farms) will discuss his wheat crop with low-disturbance manure injection and summer seeded cover crops in a field a half mile west of his farm at 8692 County Road M in Darlington.
  • Steve Carpenter (Redrock View Farms) will discuss his wheat crop with low-disturbance manure injection and summer seeded alfalfa in a field a half mile west of his farm at 10548 Palmer Road in Darlington.
  • Jim DiGangi (Darlington Ridge Farms) will discuss his rye crop with surface-applied solid manure and summer seeded Sorghum-Sudan grass in a field at Twin Bridge and Hilldale roads in Cuba City.
  • Dan Kamps (Kamps Farms) will discuss corn for grain and winter beef applied manure and early spring seeded cover crops in a field at Highway 81 and Rowesville Road in Darlington.

For safety from coronavirus, groups of fewer than 10 people will be allowed per station with 6-foot physical distancing. Masks are recommended and will be provided.
