From Tom Crave, DBA president
As we all await the national outcome of the presidential election, I want to let you know that DBA is looking forward to working with the winners of Wisconsin’s state legislative races to make our state a more welcoming place for dairy farmers and processors. In the state Legislature, Tuesday’s outcome was largely a continuation of the current situation. Republicans maintained control with a new 20-13 majority in the Senate (an increase of two) and a 61-38 majority in the Assembly (a decrease of two). Legislative candidates who DBA endorsed fared very well, winning all but one of their races. DBA will continue to work with the Legislature and Gov. Evers on priorities such as improving the regulatory environment to promote innovation and growth, and collaborating with others to improve water quality. At the federal level in Wisconsin, where it appears Joe Biden has won the presidential vote by a slim margin, we saw all seven congressional incumbents get re-elected by wide margins. The only new member of Congress from Wisconsin will be current state Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, a Republican who won his bid to fill the seat made empty by the retirement of U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner in the 5th Congressional District. DBA’s sister organization, Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative, brings a lot of value for our members through its federal policy work. I want to thank our members for your efforts to engage and participate in the political process. You made a difference! We also appreciate your help in growing our Dairy PAC program, which is an important tool in our advocacy efforts and is most effective when you participate. You can find out more about how to participate by clicking here. We are always proud to stand up for you and to be a champion for Wisconsin’s dairy community.
