Ballweg Named Chair of Ag & Tourism Committee

Madison: State Senator-elect Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan) was named chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture & Tourism yesterday by Senate Majority Leader-elect Devin LeMahieu (R-Oostburg). Her other committee assignments include serving as vice-chair of the Human Services, Children & Families Committee and as a member of the Natural Resources & Energy Committee. These assignments follow the announcement last week that she will serve on the Joint Committee on Finance.

“I’m happy to be called upon to chair the Committee on Agriculture & Tourism,” said Ballweg. “These two industries have a huge impact on the 14th Senate District. We also have strong advocates for and experts on tourism and agriculture within our borders whom I’m eager to work with on these issues.”

Ballweg’s previous experience in agriculture includes operating a family-owned farm equipment dealership for over 40 years in Central Wisconsin.

Ballweg is the current state representative for the 41st Assembly District and is senator-elect for the 14th Senate District. The senate district is located in Central Wisconsin, and is composed of parts of Adams, Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Marquette, Outagamie, Waupaca, and Waushara counties.
